Thanjavur: Co-operative loans to the tune of Rs 88.21 lakh have so far been distributed to 475 farmers in the district for taking up kuruvai cultivation, said C.Vijayaraj Kumar, Collector, at Thiruvaiyaru on Thursday. He disbursed loans to 22 farmers to the tune of Rs 11 lakh through Thiruvaiyaru, Keelathirupanthuruthi and Mathur Primary Agriculture Co-operative banks. He said that the Government has allotted Rs 100 crore for disbursing loans in the district.
Out of this amount Rs 50 crore had been released initially.
Old loans
He said that old co-operative loans to the tune of Rs 206 crore have been waived in the district to benefit 1,14,506 farmers.
