Indian air passengers carry heavy baggage
Dubai:
Indian expatriates top air passengers carting home the heaviest baggage, followed by Pakistanis and Filipinos.
Indians are told not to carry bags weighing more than 32 kg, a rule being enforced by the International Air Transport Association, a Bahrain official said.
Indians also top the list when it comes to duty-free shopping, with the maximum purchases of confectionery, food items, toys, alcohol and tobacco.
As the holiday rush begins, airport officials, particularly in Gulf countries, have warned passengers on excess baggage.
New rules
The new rules were first communicated to airlines last July, which were implemented from September 1 last year. UNI
