Ashes immersed

Staff Correspondent

DEHRA DUN: The ashes of Suman Lata Bhadola, the first Uttarakhand activist to be arrested and lodged in Delhi's Tihar Jail in 1978, were immersed in the Ganga at Har-Ki-Pairi in Hardwar on Thursday by her sons, including Dhirendra Pratap, Chairman of the Uttarakhand Activists Rehabilitation Council.

A firebrand activist of her days, Suman Lata Bhadola was former Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Social Welfare Board, Khadi Gram Udyog Board, Director of UP Cooperative Development Council and a leader of the Janata Party in Garhwal. She passed away in Delhi on June 12 after a protracted illness.

A large number of Uttarakhand activists from all parties were present in Hardwar to pay their homage.
