Sahil's bail plea adjourned
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI:
A special court has adjourned hearing on a bail application by Sahil Zaroo, co-accused in the Rahul Mahajan drug abuse case, to Friday.
Special Judge S.N. Gupta on Thursday also issued a production warrant against Mr. Zaroo, directing the Tihar Central Jail Superintendent to produce him in court on that day. He adjourned to Friday hearing on an application seeking permission to conduct a narco-analysis and brain mapping of Mr. Mahajan.
The prosecution moved a fresh application, seeking the court's permission to conduct the two tests on Mr. Zaroo as well. Counsel submitted that the two tests would help unearth the truth, which might lead to further recovery of narcotics.
Opposing Mr. Zaroo's bail application, the prosecution said both the accused Mr. Mahajan and Mr. Zaroo were booked for similar charges but the prosecution had more evidence against the latter.
Counsel for the accused submitted that the prosecution had not been able to quantify the heroin allegedly supplied by Mr. Zaroo to Mr. Mahajan. The prosecution had nothing except Mr. Zaroo's statement to prove how much heroin he supplied to Mr. Mahajan.
Mr. Mahajan surrendered his passport to the special court, which handed it to the prosecution. He surrendered his passport on a direction by the court at the time of grant of bail on Wednesday.
