TIRUCHI : With the results of the Plus-II and Standard X public examinations out and the issue of marksheets, it's time for the successful students to register their names with the District Employment Office. Hundreds of students have been thronging the Employment Office in the city over the past few days and on Thursday the office was a witness to a huge turnout of SSLC-passed students. Serpentine queues of boys and girls spilled on to the road and stretched almost up to the Bharathidasan Salai from the office. Anticipating the turnout, the officials had made elaborate arrangements to handle the situation. The youth, split into groups, were briefed on the procedures to be followed. Simultaneously, the officials verified the certificates and carried out the registration process and allocation of registration numbers. According to the Assistant Director of Employment, P. Suresh Kumar, about 1,400 boys and 1,750 girls got their names registered on Thursday. The rush is expected to continue over the next few days, Mr. Suresh Kumar added.
