NEW DELHI: It was a last-minute scramble for pre-admission forms at Delhi University on Thursday, the last day for submission of forms. With admission centres remaining open till much later than the usual closing time, 4,141 forms were sold and there were 10,096 submissions at the 16 centres set up across the Capital. Marking the end of the first phase of the admission process at the University, over 1.32 lakh forms were sold during the 15 days and close to 92,000 forms were submitted. The action now moves away from the University to individual colleges as students will now queue up to find out if they have made it to the college of their choice. "There were many calls about the forms on the last day. Surprisingly, forms were sold too. There were many people who came from Dehra Dun, Rajasthan and other States. The counters were also open up to 4-30 p.m. The idea was not to turn anyone back. This has been our policy for the past three years, we like to take a compassionate stand on anyone who comes late," said Deputy Dean Students' Welfare South Campus Jogesh Chadha. Ensuring that students don't lose out their chance to get into the University, the counter at the Dean of Students' Welfare remained open till 6 p.m. "The images of the forms are being kept with the University, so that students can't claim later that they applied for more courses than they actually did. The data will be sent to the colleges. But if there is a discrepancy, the college can approach the University," said Dean of Students' Welfare S.K. Vij.
