Body cremated outside designated place

Special Correspondent

GULBARGA: A woman's body was cremated by her husband and relatives in a solid waste dumping yard outside a cremation ground here on Friday, according to eyewitnesses.

The eyewitnesses said the relatives of the woman, whose name they said was Kamalabai Kandekar, brought the body in the morning and tried to cremate it on the roadside near the cremation ground.

However, when people who came to a nearby temple asked them not do it there, the woman's relatives took the body to the dumping yard and cremated it.

The eyewitnesses gave the woman's husband's names as Raghunath Kandekar, a retired lineman of Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company.
