ERODE: A disaster management control room has been opened at the Erode collectorate. The public and non-governmental organisations may dial 1077 and collect information about rain, flood, cyclone and disaster during this southwest monsoon season from the control room, said Collector D. Karthikeyan on Thursday after convening a district-level coordination meeting on disasters at the collectorate.

He said the monsoon is active in Kerala and soon Erode district will get rain and so as a precautionary measure, the district administration has formed the control room. Similar control rooms would also be formed in the areas where there is possibility of floods.
