`Craft Bazaar' expo from today

Ten-day fair showcases Panchaloka icons, Tanjore paintings etc

Pondicherry: A ten-day all India handicrafts exhibition organised by POOMPUHAR (Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited) under the banner of "Craft Bazaar" will be held at the VST. Thirumana Nilayam on 45 feet road in Pondicherry from Saturday (June 17).

The Manager of POOMPUHAR Mr. V. Subbayyan said in a release here that the fair, which would be held for ten days, would be open every day including Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Panchaloka icons, wooden sculptors, art pieces depicting Tanjore paintings, papier mache products, leather goods, handloom varieties and a variety of other products would be on show and for sale at the fair, which would be inaugurated by the Secretary to Pondicherry Administration A. Anbarasu under the presidentship of the chairman of the Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited, D. Rajendran.

A ten per cent rebate would be available for purchases made at the fair.

Orissa expo also today

The Orissa based Utkalini Aswakala Anchalik Seva Samit (a leading organisation of women crafts persons in Orissa) is holding a ten day exhibition-cum-sale of handicrafts and handlooms of Orissa at M K S. Rosema Thirumana Nilayam on Lal Bahadur Sastri Street here from Saturday. Gayatri Mohapatra the president of the organisation said in a release here on Friday that the handicrafts draw attention to focus the artistic skill of the crafts persons of Orissa. A wide range of products including handlooms would be available for sale at the exhibition.

The Secretary to Pondicherry administration A. Anbarasu will inaugurate the fair Saturday morning.
