NEW DELHI: Non-profit organisation Katha and British Telecommunications (BT) are organising "Katha-BT Giant Sleepover'' at Bhumiheen Camp in Govindpuri here on Saturday. The sleepover will comprise an evening of fun, entertainment and a range of different activities for children. The giant sleepover is an annual fundraising initiative that involves simultaneous sleepovers in schools across several countries including Britain, the United States and Australia, besides a few African nations and India. The participating children will compete with kids from across the globe for prizes including the biggest single sleepover, best sleepover theme, best friendship poem, best costume and best paintings and posters. Katha's concept is to depict "One World'' using the elements of earth, wind, fire, and water. Fun-filled activities, such as kite-flying, making an origami friendship-chain, puppet shows, children's theatre, poster-making and decorative "diya'' painting, have been lined up for the children. The day will end with story reading and a special midnight feast. The next morning, the children will join their contemporaries across the globe to set a new Guinness Record for the biggest recorded sleepover. In June last year, the sleepover organised by Katha was awarded the Best Sleepover Award and saw the participation of 357 children. This time round, the giant sleepover organisers expect a worldwide participation of 50,000 children.
