GAIL takes up community development projects

KOCHI:
GAIL (India) Limited is supporting two community development programmes in Aluva and Kochi. The programmes were taken up under the Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives of the company.
U.D. Choubey, Director (Marketing), GAIL, handed over items such as computers, kitchen utensils and electrical items worth Rs.3 lakhs on Friday to the Janaseva Sishu Bhavan at Aluva for the project of rehabilitation of the orphan children and eradication of child begging.
He also gave away Rs.3 lakhs to Don Bosco Sneha Bhavan for the `Young at Risk' project at Mattancherry. GAIL has taken up a project to help physically challenged women. It is being implemented by the Kottapuram Integrated Development Society (KIDS) in Kodungallur taluk.
It is intended to benefit physically challenged women engaged in screwpine craft.
The air pollution-related diagnostic centre (APRDC), sponsored by GAIL, is functioning at the General Hospital in Kochi. The centre is equipped with the latest equipment for testing the functioning of lungs. GAIL's community initiatives include environment protection, horticulture, infrastructure development, sanitation and healthcare.
