Rajahmundry: As the deadline for filing of nominations is nearing, the four main political parties have almost finalised their seat sharing in East Godavari.

The Left parties could not gain much out of alliance with both Congress and TDP. On the other hand, 2,000 candidates filed nominations for 1,129 MPTC posts as Friday is auspicious and penultimate day for filing nominations.

"First you file nomination, then we will talk about seat adjustments on the final day of withdrawal" is the advice given by most of the political parties to their candidates.

During the seat sharing agreement, both Left parties failed to impress upon Congress and TDP in the district as the main parties have demanded the Left to come out with `winning candidates.'

Finally, the CPI had to satisfy with only 6 MPTCs out of 12 that they demanded on Thursday. "We are unhappy with the seat sharing and have to face lot of brickbats from our cadre. But there is no other option," said a CPI senior leader, who did not want to mention his name.

However, the CPI (M) is much happy than CPI as it got Rajavommangi ZPTC in agency area, but it is unhappy over MPTC seat sharing with TDP.

The CPI (M) finally got Maredumilli, Rajavommangi and Devipatnam ZPTCs.

The party, which is concentrating on Agency area is going to get 50 MPTCs from Telugu Desam Party in plain as well as Agency areas.

"We have done our best, taking all issues into consideration. We will win 57 ZPTCs out of 58, otherwise we will resign, " said Minister for Roads and Buildings J. Ramamohana Rao.

ZPTC and MPTC elections to be held in first phase in East Godavari district on 28 of this month for 58 ZPTC and 1129 MPTC posts.

The administration is engaging 20,000 polling staff and 2,268 polling stations, of which 428 stations are exclusively for women and 427 for men.
