CHENNAI: Virender Kumar Pankaj of Uttar Pradesh had the honour of smashing the National record in the 400m event on the second day of the Federation Cup junior athletics meet at the Nehru stadium here on Friday. The Allahabad Sports Hostel boy clocked 47.16 seconds, erasing the National mark of 47.49 set by S. Samson in the Brunei Asian junior meet in 2001 as well as the meet mark of 47.65 by Anmol Ratan Tete in 2004. In all, five meet marks were set today. The results: Junior men: 10-km walk: 1.
