List of 22 ZPTC candidates released

Zilla Parishads witness hectic activity


  • Devakonda to witness a fierce fight between Congress, TDP candidates
  • 102 contestants file papers for ZPTC in Kurnool district taking total to 133
  • 212 candidates file nominations in 8 counters for 65 ZPTC posts in Chittoor district

    KURNOOL: DCC president and Mayor S. Raghurami Reddy and party observer K. Rudraraju released the list of 22 ZPTC candidates here on Friday. The remaining candidates would be selected by Saturday.

    The candidature of Kotla Harichakrapani Reddy was finalized for Devakonda where a fierce tug is expected between him and TDP leader P. Venkatappa Naidu. Mr. Gouru Muralidhar Reddy was nominated from Nandikotkur.

    The Zilla Parishad office witnessed hectic activity on the penultimate day for closing of nominations on Friday.

    TDP leader files papers

    A total of 102 contestants filed their papers for ZPTC seats on today taking the total to 133.

    TDP leader Kappatralla Venkatappa Naidu filed the papers for Devanakonda ZPTC seat. In a major development, K.E. Haribabu and K.E. Syambabu, sons of K.E. Krishna Murthy filed the papers for Dhone and Krishnagiri ZPTC seats.

    Gouru Muralidhar Reddy, brother of Congress leader Gouru Venkat Reddy, filed the papers for Nandikotkur seat. Former Zilla Parishad chairman Masala Eeranna and Kotla Vamsidhar Reddy presented papers for Aluru and Kodumur seats. Mani Gandhi, son of Kodumur MLA M. Sikhamani filed the nomination for Gudur seat.

    Auspicious Friday

    CHITOOR: Friday, the fourth day for the receipt of the nominations was considered to be auspicious as several contesting candidates for ZPTC posts belonging to different parties have filed their nomination papers proceeding in a rally with their followers.

    Zilla Parishad was the centre of activity. So far 212 candidates have filed their nomination papers in eight counters set up for this purpose against 65 ZPTC posts.
