Kozhikode: The pre-counselling guidance programme being arranged by The Hindu Educationplus in Kozhikode on June 22 for students going for counselling for admission to professional colleges has evoked enthusiastic response. A good number of students as well as parents turns up daily at the office of The Hindu to register for admission to the programme to be held from 9 a.m. at Calicut Tower, in Markaz Complex, near mofussil bus stand in the city. This is the third year in succession that The Hindu pre-counselling guidance programme is being held in Kozhikode. It is meant for students who have made the grade in the entrance examination in Kerala for admission to medicine, engineering and allied courses. The programme will be in two sessions. During the first session, experts will talk on the various courses, what is good for whom, how to select the courses and the job opportunities available for each, among other things. The second session will be an opportunity for participants to clear their doubts on issues relating to the counselling programme and the courses. During the pre-counselling programme there will be a presentation by the State Bank of Travancore, the main sponsor of the event, on various aspects of educational loans available to the students to pursue higher studies. The students will have to register in advance in order to participate in the programme. The registration forms are available at the office of The Hindu at Shaaz Building, Kannur Road, Ph: 0495-2762201/02/03. The students can register during the office hours on working days by remitting a fee of Rs.50 per person. Online registration can be done in the following e-mail address calicutcounselling@ thehindu.co.in. Such persons should produce the record of it and remit the registration fee at the venue on the day of the programme. The registration can be done between 10 a.m. at 5 p.m. till June 21. The participants will be provided free-of-cost an exhaustive and meticulously prepared handbook, which contains a series of articles by experts on the counselling programme, the courses, the number of seats available and the prospects of each course. Besides the programme in Kozhikode on June 22, pre-counselling programmes will be held in Kochi on June 24 and in Thiruvananthapuram on June 25. Similar events are being organised outside Kerala in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka also.
