Runaway victory for SBH

HYDERABAD: State Bank of Hyderabad drubbed State Bank of India 5-0 in the A division Rahim league football championship at the RRC Grounds here on Friday.

Fareed and Fizar Ali struck once each in the first-half and in the second session Fareed netted a brace and E.S. Sham one to complete the tally.

Kannan XI wins shoot-out

Kannan XI scored a hard-fought 6-5 win via tie-breaker against St. Antony FC (Gandhinagar) in the Sachdev Sports Cup football tournament at Trimulgherry Village Grounds here on Friday.

St. Antony FC which took the lead in the fifth minute through a fine solo effort by Lakhan. However, Kannan XI found the equaliser through Prithvi in the 30th minute.

With the teams locked one-all at the end of regulation time, the tie-breaker was applied in which Suman, Prithvi, Jude, Vishal and Kapil scored for the winner, while Lakhan, Sandeep, Vikram and Alvin were successful for St. Antony.

In another match, Friends United Club (King Koti) notched up a 2-1 win over Kamala Nehru Nagar. After a barren first-half, Friends struck twice through Dawar Hussain and Jabri in the 15th and 20th minutes. For the loser Kamal Hassan scored.

Sports Authority of India and AOC Centre were locked in a 2-2 draw in the Super Six hockey championship organised by the Hyderabad Hockey Association at Begumpet Police Stadium.

SAI took the lead in the 11th minute through T.G.B. Tilak off a penalty-corner conversion. AOC scored the equaliser through right-in Ramesh. In the 31st minute, SAI went ahead through G. Vijay Kumar. And AOC scored once again in the 57th minute through right-half Topno.
