ANANTAPUR: Even before it could arrive at an understanding on seat adjustment with the TDP for the panchayat elections, the district unit of the CPI(M) has suffered a blow with a Central Committee member of its farmer's wing and State secretary of Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangham Y. Visveswar Reddy quitting the party along with his supporters.
Meanwhile, the party announced Mr. Reddy's expulsion here on Thursday after Mr. Reddy told newsmen in Hyderabad that he was quitting on political reasons.
His younger brother Y. Madhusudhan Reddy joined the Congress before the 2004 Assembly elections. District secretary of the CITU C.P. Veeranna, district secretary of Andhra Pradesh Vyvasaya Karmika Sangham K.V. Ramana and others were also likely to join the Congress along with Mr. Reddy. In fact, all of them migrated to the CPI(M) from the CPI in 1998. "As such there is no loss whatsoever to the party. The party did not grow in Uravakonda from where Mr. Reddy hails. He joined the party unexpectedly and left it in a similar fashion," district secretary of the CPI(M) G. Obulakonda Reddy said.
