GUNTUR: An architect belonging to the city, Nunnem Narsimha Rao, was killed when an unidentified vehicle hit his motorcycle near Borempudi village near Duggirala in Guntur district in the early hours of Friday. According to the police, Rao was returning to the city after attending a function at Tenali. In a separate incident, a toddy-tapper Manyam Yedukondalu, was killed when the autorickshaw he was travelling in hit a lorry near Govada village in Amruthalur mandal on Friday. Yedukondalu suffered injuries and was rushed to the District Hospital at Tenali where he breathed his last. Three other persons travelling in the auto-rickshaw suffered simple injuries.
Attemps suicide
A HIV infected volunteer, working at the AIDS counselling centre run by a voluntary organisation at the Government General Hospital in Guntur, attempted suicide by stabbing after her employers allegedly terminated her services from the organisation. Her family members rushed her to the GGH, where she was recovering.
