HYDERABAD: A Non-Resident Indian retired from California police service Waheed Khan, 53, was arrested on charge of raping his 20-year-old maid here at Banjara Hills on Thursday. His wife Faheem was also accused of supporting him in the alleged sexual assault. The Banjara Hills Inspector E. Shankar Reddy said they, however, postponed her arrest keeping her health condition in mind since she delivered a baby just three weeks ago. The victim was from Guntur. In her complaint, she stated that Khan violated her some 10 days ago. The sexual abuse continued for the next week and the NRI's wife used to support him in the heinous act, the Inspector said. The maid somehow managed to escape three days ago, went to her widowed mother in Guntur and approached the police on Thursday. "We found obscene photos of women and men in his bedroom," the Inspector said. While Khan was arrested, police said evidence against his wife was yet to be gathered. Born and brought up in the city, Khan went to America some 25 years ago.
Drunken youth held
In a heinous act, a youngster in an inebriated condition allegedly raped an 80-year-old woman at Ashoknagar bus-stand in Kushaiguda after Thursday midnight. Alerted by the cries of the hapless woman, two autorickshaw drivers passing by caught him with the help of locals after chasing him. Furious residents gave the youth a thorough thrashing before handing him over to the police. The Kushaiguda Inspector K. Ramchander Rao said the woman from nearby Cherlapalli village did not have anyone to depend upon. "She used to beg in the area and sleep in the bus stop," he explained. The accused reportedly came to his relative's house in Ashoknagar, partied till midnight and was going to his house when he spotted the lonely woman in the bus stop and allegedly assaulted her.
