Farm union hails proposal for SCs, STs

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Workers Union has hailed the Union Group of Ministers' recommendation for allotting 22.5 per cent of the annual budget for the welfare of Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes.

In a statement, G. Mallesh and J. Wilson, president and general secretary of the union said the proposal to recognise villages comprising 40 per cent Dalit population as Prime Minister's Model Villages for provision of all basic amenities was a welcome step.
