Go forward, there is no turning back: Buddhadeb

Special Correspondent

Support to Congress is out of compulsion, he says at a DYFI rally

KOLKATA: The massive win by the Left Front in the West Bengal polls was unequivocal — "go forward, there is no turning back", Chief Minister, Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, said here.

"The path ahead is fraught with difficulties. None has shown us the way; we will have to forge it on our own through experience and learning from developments around. Our people are our strength,"

Mr. Bhattacharjee said at a rally, organised by the Democratic Youth Federation of India. "We have our problems with Delhi. Our differences with the Congress are over basic principles. Its class character has not changed. The Left parties are supporting the government it leads not out any love for the party but out of compulsion".

Reiterating the need for the seventh Left Front government in the State to be more "responsive to the aspirations of the poor and focus on the youth," he said the work culture would have to be improved and vestiges of corruption removed.

Creating more jobs

Mr Bhattacharjee said the Government's "central concern is to increase job opportunities" both in the industrial and agricultural sectors. "We do not want jobless growth in our State."
