Bangalore: High attrition levels in IT and ITES sectors (information technology and IT-enabled services) have forced the human resource (HR) personnel to work out ways of retaining employees. ESOPs (employees stock options) are passé. Holiday packages, family get-together and outdoor team exercises still hold charm. Yet retaining staff is a challenge that the HR personnel have to contend with. And they have to come up with novel approaches. One such is from the Bangalore-based FCG Software Services India (FCGI), which has set up various clubs such as the investment club; wine club; music club; cooking club; trekkers club; quiz club and so on all of which look at "better work-life balance". To enhance work environment and culture in the workplace is the key for any organisation to sustain. And how do these clubs work in bringing about the work-life balance? "An investment club is a small group of individual investors which comes together to learn and build confidence among the members to make calculated investment decisions. The club provides a sound programme of investment education and support to help members become successful lifetime investors," says Subramaniam, Managing Director of the firm. Then there is the wine club where members discuss wine making, and so on.
