South African team interested in State's education initiatives

HYDERABAD: A delegation of representatives of education and labour studies from South Africa that visited the State on Thursday evinced keen interest in the facilities provided for school education and the steps taken to manage educational institutions effectively.

The team that met Sarva Siksha Abhiyan project State director K. Chandramouli enquired about the methods adopted for distribution of textbooks in rural areas, creation of awareness on HIV/AIDS and the conduct of examinations. The members also sought to learn from the officials the methodologies adopted for preparing the course curriculum.

Mr. Chandramouli told the delegation that the Government was taking steps to distribute textbooks free of cost to all students in rural areas, besides including lessons on HIV/AIDS in the curriculum. He also explained the procedures adopted for recruitment of teachers.
