KOCHI: The Anti-Power Theft Squad of the Kerala State Electricity Board has detected 24 cases of power theft and 26 instances of power misuse in the city. In two days' searches this week at restaurants, households, businesses and institutions, the squad detected a loss of Rs.21.62 lakhs to the Board. These included a palatial residential house at Kadavanthara,a bookshop on Broadway, and the house of a Lakshadweep Administration officer. The Board had recently stumbled upon a city youth who had specialised in tampering with electronic power meters and helped businesses and households to phenomenally cut their power bills, for a fee.
