KOCHI: A Syndicate sub-committee of the Cochin University of Science and Technology on Friday began an inquiry into an allegation that a B.Tech. student had gained admission in the university without appearing for the Common Admission Test (CAT).
The university authorities had suspended the student based on a preliminary inquiry report that she had gained admission in violation of the prescribed rules of the university. The issue came to light after the International Relations and Academic Admissions, in charge of the admission process, found that the student who did not figure in the rank list of CAT got admission for B.Tech. Electronics offered by the School of Engineering under Cusat last year.
