Winds and showers
The weatherman attributed the developments to a western disturbance over Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal. A partly cloudy sky with dust storms and thunderstorms accompanied by squalls has been forecast for the next 24 hours. On Friday afternoon, the temperature hovered around 39 degrees Celsius, but plunged to 18 degrees after the showers. The day temperature in the Capital is likely to remain about 5 degrees below normal over the next few days.
Woman held with drugs
Acting on a tip-off, a Crime Branch team laid a trap near Central School in Tagore Garden on Thursday. The woman, later identified as Laxmi, was arrested when she appeared on the scene around 8-15 p.m. A bag containing 8 kg ganja was allegedly recovered from her possession. At Laxmi's instance, the police recovered another 34 kg ganja from her house in Raghubir Nagar jhuggies. The police also recovered Rs. 5.18 lakhs in cash from her house.
