GULBARGA: Vittal Herur, president of Akhila Karnataka Adivasi Kabbaliga Jana Jagruti Samiti, who relinquished his office as Chief Whip in the Legislative Council on Saturday, has said that the samiti would be forced to launch an agitation if the Government does not send in one month the proposal for including the Kabbaliga community in the Scheduled Tribe list to the Union Government. He said at a press conference here on Saturday that Mr. Herur said that he had discussed this issue with Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy several times. The Chief Minister had promised to take up the issue in the Cabinet and send the final proposal to the Union Government supporting the demand for inclusion of the Kabbaliga community in the Scheduled Tribe list. Mr. Herur alleged that successive governments had failed to protect the interests of the Kabbaliga community. They had not presented the case with supporting documents, he added. He was confident that the Government would stand by its commitment.
