CAB chief post: top cop in fray

KOLKATA: The city's Commissioner of Police, Prasun Mukherjee, formally announced his candidature for the post of the president of Cricket Association of Bengal, which is presently being occupied by Jagmohan Dalmiya.

Mr. Mukherjee said that his decision to contest for the highest administrative seat of cricket in the State had been motivated by the call for change by many of the 121 affiliates of CAB. The full panel of contestants — including four vice-presidents, two joint secretaries and a treasurer — would be announced in due course, he said.

The elections will be a part of the CAB's annual general meeting scheduled to be held in the last week of July. — Principal Correspondent
