A four-member delegation from University of Malaysia, Sabah, Malaysia headed by Vice-Chancellor Datuk and Mohd. Noh Dalimin visited Osmania University. They called on the Vice-Chancellor and held discussions with Principals and Deans to explore possibilities for bilateral academic cooperation. OU Vice-Chancellor Mohd. Suleman Siddqi said Osmania University was in the forefront in forging linkages with international institutions of higher learning for advancement of knowledge. Prof. Datuk sought the cooperation of Osmania University in strengthening the faculty of business and economics and in designing advanced programme in Islamic studies.
Social research
OU Arts College Principal P.L. Vishweshwer Rao stressed the need to strengthen research to aid policy making. Social research is crucial to planning and rural development in India, he felt while delivering the keynote address at the workshop on `Research methodology and report writing in social sciences.' He said new communication technologies have made research much easier and exhorted students to be more rigorous in their approach to research. Nearly 300 students and research scholars attended the workshop.
