Suseela murder: one held

Thrissur: The police on Saturday arrested Prasad, 27, of Kalarikkal House at Kozukkulli Madirasi Moola in Mannuthy, in connection with the Suseela murder case.

The body of Suseela, 73, wife of the late Kumbalathuprambil Narayanan of Munnumuri Ombathungal in Mattathur, was found in her house on June 6. Suseela was living alone in the house.

A postmortem had revealed death by smothering. Prasad is Suseela's son-in-law's nephew. He was reportedly facing financial problems.

Inspector General of Police B. Sandhya said the investigation revealed that Prasad had committed the murder to take Suseela's gold ornaments. Two bangles and an earring were recovered from the accused, she said.

A large crowd had gathered at Mattathur when Prasad was taken there on Saturday by the police to gather evidence.
