Temple renewal to be over in 8 months

Staff Reporter

Thrissur: The second stage of the renovation of the Rudhiramahakalikkavu Temple is expected to be completed in eight months, according to the Sree Rudhiramahakalikkavu Punarudharana Committee.

A.V. Venkitachalam, former Director General of Police and head of the Punarudharana committee, said the renovation, estimated to cost Rs.50 lakhs, would be over before the next Uthralikkavu Pooram (one of the major festivals of central Kerala).

The first stage of the renovation, which included the beautification of the Sreekovil (sanctum sanctorum), was completed on February 28. The road leading to the temple has been renovated.

"The Desams involved in the Uthralikkavu Pooram, Wadakkancherry, Enkakkad and Kumaranellur, have raised the funds for the renovation,'' Mr. Venkitachalam said.
