CINCINNATI: Emi, the Sumatran rhino, is pregnant again. And that is big news for conservationists from Cincinnati to Indonesia concerned about the survival of her species. The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden said the Sumatran rhino is 173 days into the 16-month pregnancy. Her pregnancy is going well, shoring up animal scientists beliefs that they have developed a reliable way to breed the rhinos and perhaps save the species in their native South-East Asian homelands of Indonesia and Malaysia. It is believed fewer than 300 exist. AP
