Commonwealth Fellowship for University teacher

SHIMLA: An Associate Professor in the Department of Physics of Himachal Pradesh University, Dr. Mahavir Singh, has been awarded the fellowship under the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship plan tenable in the United Kingdom at the University of Dundee.

Dr. Singh got selected from the top ten scientists from India who were short listed earlier. The University Grant Commission has recommended his name to the British Council .

The British Council had also examined the research proposals of scientists from 36 other Commonwealth countries and finally the work on Nano Technology by Dr. Singh was selected, informed a university spokesman here. His research would be on Synthesis and Characterisation of Magnetic Nano Material being pursued under the supervision of Professor Alexander G. Fitzgerald, a known name and one of the pioneers in the field of Nano technology.

Dr. Singh has already published 26 research papers in international journals and had presented a number of them in national and international conferences and he was also the referee in three main international journals.
