Thiruvananthapuram: The Education Department, in association with the P.N. Panicker Foundation, will organise a major campaign Read and Grow to inculcate reading as a habit among children. Addressing a press conference here, Education Minister M.A. Baby said June 19 will be observed as "Reading Day" and the week from June 19 to 25 would be observed as "Reading Week." The programme would be launched in all the schools in the State, with the Minister inaugurating the State programme in the Capital on that day. Mr. Baby said the programme was intended to promote the habit of reading among children. He said that more than 60 lakh school children will participate in the programme that would bring them into contact with books outside their curriculum.
