BHOPAL:
The Madhya Pradesh Minister for Backward Classes and Minorities Welfare, Rustam Singh, has made an appeal to OBC students, who would continue their higher education in Delhi, to take benefit of the State Government's "Chhatra Griha Yojna" during
Under the scheme, the State Government would provide stipend, a lump-sum grant and bear the housing, electricity and water expenses for Madhya Pradesh students pursuing higher education in Delhi, who are economically weak and belong to the other backward classes.
An amount of Rs. 9.40 lakhs has been sanctioned and the target is to cover 50 OBC students through this scheme during the 2006-07 academic session.
Mr. Singh said that under the scheme, the State Government would pay the boarding/housing expenses at the rate of Rs. 1000 per student per month and water and electricity charges for a period of 12 months at the rate of Rs. 50 per student per month.
In addition, each student would be paid scholarship at the rate of Rs. 500 per month for a period of one year.
The OBC students would also receive a grant of Rs. 2000 at the time of
