Rs. 60 crores for technical education

Bid to strengthen infrastructure for better campus placements

CHANDIGARH : The Haryana Government will spend Rs. 60 crores to strengtheninfrastructure for technical education to provide better opportunities and campus placements to the students this financial year, M. L. Tayal, the Principal Secretary to Haryana Chief Minister, said here on Sunday.

Launching the online off-campus counselling for admission to technical courses during the current session, Mr. Tayal said that Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was very keen to improve the quality of technical education to meet the growing demand for skilled manpower in the context of multi-national companies setting up their units in the State. He sought the cooperation of the private institutions for the development of education in the State and called for reorientation of the mindset of the teaching community so that they could groom students to meet the demand of the private sector.

Claiming that Haryana was the first State to launch online facilities, he said that this system was absolutely transparent, student-friendly, cost-effective and minimized the need for travel. For the guidance of students, rank-wise admission status of last year and mandatory disclosure of facilities in colleges was also available on the website.

The Commissioner and Secretary Technical Education, Ajit M. Sharan, said that registration for online admissions to all courses through the website www.tehadmissions.gov.in would remain open up to June 30.

The prospectus for all the courses was available on the website www.techeduhry.nic.in as well as on www.tehadmissions.gov.in The Director Technical Education, M.P.Bansal, said that placement through campus had increased from 35 to 60 per cent.
