JAIPUR: The All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) has cautioned the United Progressive Alliance Government at the Centre against the continued neglect of the National Common Minimum Programme. The UPA Government has given a go by to many of the points in the NCMP and chosen to ignore the notes of disagreement from the Left parties, the party has noted. "A lot will depend on how the UPA Government would react to the latest note from the Left parties," national secretary of AIFB G. Devarajan said here over the weekend talking about the continued support of the Left parties to the UPA. "So far as many as 19 notes issued by the Left parties to the Government on various matters where the implementation was lacking, did not elicit much response. It is to be seen how they respond to this one," he observed.
AIFB disappointed
"AIFB is of the opinion that the UPA Government's performance on many fronts is below expectation. The AIFB leader said while the National Democratic Alliance Government was voted out for its neglect of the farmers and the downtrodden, the UPA Government was almost on the same track. "There has been no stopping of the farmers' suicides. They have been taking place all over, be it Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra or Punjab," Mr.Devarajan pointed out. He demanded a comprehensive law on agriculture workers and a national package on waiving farm loans. The Government had failed to announce minimum support prices to agricultural produces on time and control imports of farm goods from abroad. The public investment on agriculture in the country had been on the decline while there had been very little effort to augment irrigation facilities, Mr.Devarajan charged. "Indian farmers are still dependent on monsoons," Mr.Devarajn pointed out.
AIFB is planning to launch a countrywide campaign against price rise highlighting the failure of the UPA Government in checking inflation. "The Government projections on GDP growth are all on paper. They
