Mandram's honour for examination toppers

Move to make Tamil a compulsory subject welcomed



RECOGNITION: Amutha Surabhi Kalai Mandram president V. Balakrishnan giving away the awards to P. Vijay Anand and S. Mahalakshmi.

MADURAI: Madurai Amutha Surabi Kalai Mandram has honoured two students, P. Vijay Anand from P.K.N Higher Secondary School, Thirumangalam, who stood first in the State in Tamil subject, and S. Mahalakshmi from T.V.K Higher Secondary School, Thathaneri, who topped in office secretary studies in Tamil medium education in the State with the "Porkizhi" and the "Amutha Surabhi award".

The awards were presented by the organisations president, V.Balakrishnan.

A cash award of Rs. 1001 was presented in recognition of outstanding performances in Tamil language.

Speakers at the function welcomed the State Government's move to make Tamil a compulsory subject for all Standards from I to X.

The mandram adopted a resolution appreciating the same.
