India fast becoming `a key market for airlines'

CHENNAI : Balakrishnan Nair and Affan.O.A of the ITL Tours and Travels Pvt Ltd, Trivandrum, won the Star Alliance Grand Quiz held at the Accord Metropolitan hotel here on Saturday.

The runners-up were Shobha and Christine from Carlson Wagonlit Travel Pvt Ltd, Chennai. Andrew and Kamalaveni of Pegasus Travels secured the third place.

The quiz was conducted by freelance journalist and quizzer Samanth Subramanian.

B.K. Ong, Chairman of the Country Steering Council and General Manager of the Singapore Airlines, presented the awards.

Mr.Ong said that this quiz was initiated in Kerala and Tamil Nadu to encourage travel agents to promote the Star Alliance airlines products amongst travellers.

"Country regional alliance is active and we are trying to improve services and provide synergy in customer service."

"India is fast becoming a key market of airlines from across the world and is immense importance to all Star Alliance members. Therefore we initiated Star Trek and Grand Star Quiz, with the aim of enthusing the travel agents to increase awareness and desirability for Star Alliance," he said.

The four teams that contested here were winners of a five-week quiz.
