Nursing course in Malaysia

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: Students aspiring for a career in nursing and allied medical sciences have immense opportunities abroad, where there is a big demand for people trained in offering these services.

This was highlighted by the Malaysian Allied Health Sciences Academy (MAHSA), which spelled out its courses and facilities offered.

Students with Plus Two qualification can apply for the courses. Proficiency in English is important.

H.M. Hanifa, Managing Director of MAHSA College, said at a press conference here on Sunday that students taking admission to various courses offered here would be provided accommodation and would have a transport facility to reach the college. Safety and security are the top concerns of parents of students studying in other places, he said.

Dr. Hanifa said the college, where 20 per cent of its students are Indians, provided a safe atmosphere. MAHSA has collaborative links with University of Northumbria (U.K.), University of Teesside (U.K.), John Moores Liverpool University (U.K.), University of Wollagong (Australia) and Flinders University (Australia). Hence, students who join the courses offered at MAHSA are eligible to work in the U.S., the U.K., Australia and Middle East.

Rosli Ismail, Consul General of Malaysia in India, said the Malaysian Government, in its bid to promote tourist traffic from India, was offering multiple entry visas to Indians. The fee for a four-and-a-half year course in nursing is Rs.5.5 lakhs. Students interested in joining these courses can visit the website of the college at www.mahsa.edu.my and can contact through e-mail at admission@mahsa.edu.my or contact the Director of Nursing Zahrah Saad at zahrah@mahsa.edu.com .
