Sangareddy: Unable to bring up his two daughters, a daily wage earner in Siddipet killed them by slitting their throats in the early hours of Sunday. Gurram Buchi Reddy, a native of Chinnalingapuram in Sircilla mandal of Karimnagar district, who migrated to Siddipet a decade ago in search of work, resorted to the ghastly crime by sending his wife Rajeswari and son Raju to Timmaipalli in Nangunoor mandal on Saturday. Buchi Reddy told his wife that he would be leaving for Hyderabad in search of a job. He left home in the evening but returned around 10.30 p.m. on Saturday. Early on Sunday, Buchi Reddy took a knife and slit the throats of his daughters, Swapna (14) and Pranusha (12), who were asleep. Swapna failed in her tenth class exam recently while Pranusha was studying in eighth standard. After killing the girls, Buchi Reddy reached his elder brother's place in Ramachandrapuram and then returned as if nothing had happened. Meanwhile, an unidentified person rang up the police and informed them of the incident. Siddipet CI Gangaram who arrived on the scene suspected the veracity of Buchi Reddy's version of the story and after a few questions Buchi Reddy confessed to his crime. Buchi Reddy told the police that he wanted to commit suicide after killing his daughters but could not do so.
