Rehabilitate displaced farmers

Government may acquire land for construction of projects in the larger interests of the community. But the affected farmers should be compensated adequately for their sacrifice, as they have to lease their ancestral homes and lands. It is the duty of the Government to take all steps to rehabilitate the affected farmers in all respects.

It is not desirable to deprive them of their houses and lands without showing alternative way to live.

Lease out Rashtrapati Nilayam

Rashtrapati Nilayam in Bolarum has become `serpent nilayam' because it is not in use for the last two decades. Huge expenditure is being incurred on the maintenance of the vast building. It should be considered by the Government whether it is necessary to incur so much expenditure for the stay of the President once in a blue moon.

This building with vast vacant space is very ideal for leasing out to a hospital with modern equipment and all facilities. Both the State and Central Governments may consider this suggestion.

`Congress is cheating'

As expected the Congress has for the third time let down the Telangana peoples demand for separate State. The Congress party from the very beginning showed absolute disregard for Telangana people and has always supported Andhra leadership. It has never done anything good for Telangana people except exploiting their backwardness.

In 1948 Telangana people wholeheartedly supported police action of the Congress-led Government at the Centre.

After the police action, people of the region imposed full faith in the Congress and democratically elected a Congress Government. But the region was forced to merge with Andhra State much against the wishes of Telangana people.

In 1969 separate Telangana agitation another Congress Prime Minister Indira Gandhi let down Telangana people in favour of Andhra leadership.

In 2004 before general elections Congress president Sonia Gandhi sought alliance of Telangana people promising separate Telangana State and swept the elections to establish Congress Government at the Centre and the State and for the last two years the Congress party is cheating Telangana people and taking TRS leader K. Chandrashekar Rao for a ride.

The Congress continues to disregard the sentiments of Telangana people as usual. In fact, the party never supported Telangana people during last 50 years and it is foolish on the part of K.Chandrashekar Rao to loiter in the corridors of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi begging for separate Telangana State.

If he has any self-respect and regard for the prestige of Telangana people he should quit the Cabinet and concentrate on panchayat elections.

Now that BJP has come out openly in support of Telangana, the people of Telangana people have to decide whether they honestly want a separate Telangana State.
