K.Subramanian

NAGAPATTINAM: The police have stepped up its vigil on the Vedaranyam coast in Nagapattinam district following the possible arrival of Tamil refugees from Sri Lanka in Arcottuthurai, Kodiakarai (Point Calimere), Vedaranyam and other coastal villages here.

A top police official told The Hindu on Monday that a special mobile police force was also visiting the coastal villages to keep a watch on the Nagapattinam and Thanjavur areas. Besides, the Coast Guard has stepped its vigil on the mid-sea to watch the movements of the Sri Lankan naval boats in Indian waters.
