Plan for power plant, cargo airport

Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH: Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh D. Ambani said here on Monday that the country's largest Special Economic Zone to be set up in Haryana would have a captive power generation plant and a cargo airport subject to the necessary approval.

Talking to media persons immediately after the signing of the agreement, he said a company named Reliance Haryana SEZ would be formed for the setting up of the SEZ.

A board of directors would be appointed which would take all decisions related to this new venture.

Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said he had preferred Reliance only for this project as it was a brand name which had succeeded in SEZs in Gujarat and Maharashtra and they would succeed in Haryana also.

Mr. Ambani disclosed that it would be the first time that Reliance would be investing over Rs. 25,000 crores outside western India.
