The couple from Chennai was on a honeymoon trip, say the police

MUNNAR: The police on Monday arrested three persons, including the wife of the 30-year-old man from Chennai who was murdered at Kundalai, near here, on Sunday last where he was on a honeymoon trip.

The two others are auto drivers, also from Chennai who were taken into custody on Sunday.

According to the police, Anantharaman, residing in 25th Street, Pammal Sanker Nagar, Chennai, along with his wife Sreevidya (24) had arrived at the hill station on Saturday.

They visited the Kundalai dam site on Sunday afternoon, where he was strangled to death by the assailants.

The complaint preferred by Ms. Sreevidya said her husband went into the woods where the assailants attacked him and robbed her of her jewellery. The police took two suspects Anand (24) and Anparaj (21) into custody at 6.30 p.m. from a lodge in the town.

The police said interrogations had revealed that Anand was Vidya's paramour and both had plotted to kill Anantharaman. Anand along with his accomplice Anparaj had followed the honeymoon couple from Chennai to Guruvayoor and then to Munnar.
