NEW DELHI: Municipal Commissioner A.K. Nigam on Monday suspended an executive engineer of the Department of Environment Management Services posted at Shahdara (North) zone following a complaint by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi Standing Committee Chairman, Jai Kishan Sharma. Executive Engineer Amar Singh was suspended after Mr. Nigam consulted the Shahdara (North) Deputy Commissioner and found him guilty of dereliction of duty. Leaders, social workers and residents of the zone had lodged several complaints against Mr. Singh alleging that he was not paying heed to their grievances. At a meeting called to review preparations for upcoming monsoon season, Mr. Sharma received several complaints against Mr. Singh, who failed to attend the meeting despite prior information.
