NEW DELHI: A young man has been arrested by the Special Cell of the Delhi police on charges of abducting and killing a Delhi-based businessman this May. According to the police, Puspa Jain, wife of Vinod Jain, had about a month ago lodged a complaint with the Prashant Vihar police alleging that her husband had gone missing on May 26. Ms. Jain told the police that he had last called her up from Bahadurgarh. A Special Cell team under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police Ravi Shankar was entrusted with the investigations. Enquiries revealed that on May 26, Mr. Jain had gone to Bahadurgarh to meet one Bhupender Singh. Mr. Jain, who was once arrested under COFEPOSA, had first met him when they were lodged in Tihar Central Jail in 2002. Suspecting his involvement, the police picked up Bhupender. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to having murdered Mr. Jain as he was not repaying Rs. 50,000 he had borrowed from Bhupender. He allegedly disclosed that on the fateful day he and Mr. Jain consumed liquor. Bhupender then demanded his money, at which Mr. Jain offered him another "lucrative" deal. But, Bhupender insisted that his money be returned there and then. Mr. Jain then asked him to accompany him to Jhajjar in Haryana saying he would get the money from his father and repay him.
