Isolated rainfall in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Southwest monsoon has been vigorous over Rayalaseema and south interior Karnataka.

Rainfall occurred at most places over Kerala, Rayalaseema, Karnataka and Lakshadweep and at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu.

The following stations recorded heavy rainfall in cms: Yelahanka 11, Arni (Tiruvannamalai dt.), Ketti (Nilgiris dt.) and Gowribidanur (Kolat dt.) 9 each, Pondicherry airport and Biligi (Bagalkote dt.) 8 each and Maduranthagam (Kanchipuram dt.), Dharwad, Badami (Bagalkote dt.), Sindagi (Bijapur dt.), K.R. Pet (Mandya dt.), Bangalore and Hosadurga (Chitradurga dt.) 7 each.

FORECAST (valid until Thursday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep and at many places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema and at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Telangana.

HEAVY RAINFALL WARNING: Isolated heavy rain is likely to occur over north Kerala, coastal Andhra Pradesh, coastal and south interior Karnataka during the next 48 hours.

Farmers Weather Bulletin for Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry (Forecast valid until Thursday morning of 22nd June 2006): Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places over all the districts of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.

Outlook for Subsequent Two Days: No large change.
