Letters to the Editor
The editorial "Nepal marches on" (June 19) depicts the momentous developments in the liberation of the people of Nepal from the clutches of a theocratic monarchy. The relentless struggle of the Seven-Party Alliance in conjunction with the Maoists is an example of how the awakening of people's aspirations can bring diverse political interests together against illiberal and anti-democratic forces.
Kasim Sait,
Saner counsel seems to have prevailed on the Maoists who have at last decided to move into the mainstream. It is hoped they will eschew armed struggle. The Maoists have to break their silence over the disarmament of their cadres. Return of peace in Nepal is welcome not only in the interest of that country but also of neighbouring countries like India.
K.V. Seetharamaiah,
