INLD demands scrapping of Reliance deal

Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH: The Indian National Lok Dal on Tuesday demanded scrapping of the "deal'' between the Haryana Government and the Reliance Industries Limited for establishment of a Special Economic Zone in the State.

Addressing a press conference here, INLD Secretary-General and Member of Parliament Ajay Singh Chautala, former Haryana Finance Minister Sampat Singh, former Deputy Speaker Gopi Chand Gehlot and INLD State unit president Ashok Arora alleged that the Hooda Government had sold "the interests of the State and its people'' by signing the agreement with Reliance which paved the way for transfer of prime land to it for a "mere pittance''.

They announced that INLD would initiate a signature campaign against the "sell-out'' and hand over the petition to the Governor and the President demanding abolition of the deal. Mr. Chautala asserted that "in case the Congress Government does not scrap the deal, the INLD on coming to power will do the needful".
